Allow me to pick my successor – Buhari begs APC Governors

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary election, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked governors elected on the platform of the ruling party to allow him pick his successor. The president made the request in his address during a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum in Abuja on Tuesday, Nation Interest  news gathered. According to Buhari, the state governors were given the opportunity to pick their successor, asking them to allow him do same at the federal level. Buhari said, “In keeping with the established internal policies of the Party and as we approach the Convention in a few days, therefore, I wish to solicit the reciprocity and support of the Governors and other stakeholders in picking my successor, who would fly the flag of our party for election into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023. “We gave governors re-election tickets or opportunity to pick their successors; allow me pick my successor.

Court jails Chinese two years for Naira mutilation

The Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Li Lei Lei, a Chinese national, to 24 months imprisonment for mutilating the Nigerian currency. He was convicted by Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.  The convict was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on tampering of the Nigerian note, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment) Act. One of the count reads: “That you, Li Lei Lei, on or about the 17th day of May, 2022, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, tampered with One Thousand Naira (N1,000) Note, with serial number 947882 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment) Act, Cap C4, Vol.1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2

A Labour Party, LP, presidential aspirant, Professor Pat Utomi has stepped down for Peter Obi. Utomi stepped down for Obi at the party’s presidential primary in Asaba, Delta State. Last week, the former Anambra State governor joined the Labour Party. Obi joined LP after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, despite being one of the party’s presidential aspirants. Kanunta, a brother of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has suggested why Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State lost at the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary election. He alleged that the IPOB and those killed during the massacre of Obigbo were responsible for Wike’s loss at the PDP primaries. In a tweet, Kanunta dismissed claims that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto betrayed Wike.

IPOB warns Uzodimma, Wike against ceding Imo communities to Rivers

Home News Sports Subscribe IPOB members The Indigenous People of Biafra has warned the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodimma, against the “secret” plot to cede some communities in Imo State to Rivers State. The group alleged that there was an “illegal undocumented treaty” to cede communities of Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area in Imo to Rivers via a “crooked financial inducement” by Wike. In a statement, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, warned of “catastrophic consequences and futuristic destructive effects” that would follow such development if allowed to sail through. The group also advised the affected Imo communities not to be enticed by the pecuniary inducement that would be attached to such concession, warning that they would regret it in the end.
